(Miami, FL) -- Ever since the completion of the LeBronathon that netted Wade and Bosh in Miami, there have been rumors circulating about which players should join the trio in Miami. In recent days, we've heard of Lakers PG Derek Fisher meeting with Miami officials and even rumbling of Shaq making a return to south beach, but there is one rumor out there that needs to be squashed now.
I hope I don't come off as a scorned homer, but there is no reason the Miami Heat should even consider signing Allen Iverson. Ever since his departure from the Sixers last season there have been questions if the 14-year pro will return to the NBA.
Iverson himself is even getting in on the fun stating on his Twitter account...
@alleniverson: I want to return to the NBA this season, and help any team that wants me, in any capacity that they feel that I can help. I'm disappointed,
Allen you should be disappointed, and if you plan on returning to the NBA, Miami is the last place you should go.
I know it would be a great chance for him to finally win a title, but with the team that is consisting of LeBron James and D-Wade, having another ball controlling egomaniac is the last thing you want for team chemistry.
We all heard this story last year when A.I. joined the Grizzlies, the proclamation that he wants to be a team player and contribute in any role they want his...well that's all well and good for a little bit, but we all know when push comes to shove, A.I. will want the ball and to be the superstar and Miami has WAY to much of that right now.
I know that Allen dealt with many off the court issues last season and his return was mostly to boost the Sixers dismal attendance numbers. Even I will admit it was nice seeing him in Sixers garb once again, but after the smoke cleared I began to realize why we wanted to get rid of him in the first place.
This is the second time I have written this warning (the first time to the Sixers) , just like many things in sports we tend to look to the glory years to ease the tough decision.
Miami. don't do this to yourself. You're going to have enough problems with the Trio without dealing with The Answer.
In the end...on the court last year, Allen Iverson was not a problem...he only averaged like 10 shots a game which says that he doesnt shoot the ball as pften which also can be considered a non ballhog....he didnt cause any problem to the 76ers...the only reason he wasnt at some games (including the allstar game which says i dnt care about superstarism<(made up word) anymore) is because he 3 year old daughter was deathly ill...Allen would be a plus to the Heat and he might finally be able to get a title that we allknow he deserves...
ReplyDeleteagreed darrius. A.I. stepped into Philly and if anything didnt shoot the rock enough. how did building around Iguodala work out for Philly? A.I. is a capable PG and would be a great backup in Miami. Everyone knows Wade and Bron wanna sit on the bench together and laugh and all that sh*T. A.I. is jus wat they need.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see the future hall of famer get another chance to play with a legitimate team who has a chance at winning a championship. Iverson has had his problems but I feel he would be a great addition in spite of.
ReplyDeleteAI is one of my fav players, but this retire and un-retire business is getting old now...
ReplyDeleteI too feel that A I would be a great addition.
ReplyDeletethe heat would be a perfect fit for the Great AI
ReplyDeleteAI get's a bad wrap, this guy is a great player. If the heat could land AI,that would be awsome.Even if AI has lost a step he still better than chalmers. Not talking trash on the young chalmers, but if AI is on the court with the big 3 man look out. There is no way you can guard that.I say get AI and Shaq.
ReplyDeleteNO--NEVER---AI is just what the Heat do NOT need --an egomaniacal fool!
ReplyDeleteCan we pleeeeze get some Steeler talk going here. Same old bla-bla-bla about the Sixers, who cares. Remember Steelers - 6-six Super Bowls. "Iggles"-the big squaduce. Zero, as in 0.
ReplyDeleteBlack and Gold "57" is in the house.
if AI can get this message, GO TO THE HEAT, if MIAMI can get this message, GO GET A.I.
ReplyDeleteAI would destroy that locker room...he is a bum....trust me, he got 86'ed from all the casino's in Detroit. Whoever thinks he would be an asset in Miami don't know basketball...plus I cannot believe I'm wasting time writing about this bum...
ReplyDeleteI think AI would be a good fit for the team but how would he behave in Miami? Would his drinking and gambling problems resurface? Just something the Heat should think about if they are considering bringing in Iverson.
ReplyDeleteWARNING TO THE WRITER: DONT THROW ROCKS WHEN YOU LIVE IN A GLASS HOUSE... how many times have you messed up on your job, in your life but you still work right... oh let me guess, its because no one knows you.. So because the world knows AI, he can't work because he makes mistakes.. Guess we should all strive to be perfect like you... I think the heat would fit him nice as long as AI understands his role with the team. Can you imagine a player like AI coming off the bench with something to prove against NBA back ups??? I'll take that anyday!!!
ReplyDeleteThere is a saying that when you don't understand history you tend to repeat it. Iverson has said in the past that he will accept any role hes given so he can be a team player... How'd that work out in Denver or Memphis.. terribly.
ReplyDeleteHe will never fit in Miami. And if I mess up at work i get fired same thing should happen with Iverson.
god forgive everybody.give AI a change for a ring.i know some of you guys sin before. hartford,ct birth place of AI.
ReplyDeletethe right place for AI is philly with the sixers he can help the sixers become a championship team agian and upset the big three.hecan come off the bench as the 1 or 2 get rid of lou williams and elton brand and then you got a good running team that can play defence also take a lost with elton brand by cuting him and trade lou for another big man
ReplyDeleteput AI,Tracy McGrady,Reggie Miller and Shaq you will have 82 wins regular season new recorg and 16 unbeaten wins playoff new record.
ReplyDeleteU really didn't state any valid points why AI shouldn't go to Miami. Who said he would have to start? He could come off the bench and be productive.
ReplyDeleteAI in Miami. That's 25 assist per game average all season.Wade,LeBron Bosh and AI all leading vote getters for allstar starters.
ReplyDeleteAI on Miami garanteed championship.
ReplyDeletewhat BAD stuff does AI bring to the locker room? any facts?
