Rudy Gay resigns with Grizz.
(Memphis, TN) Rudy Gay was expected to be one of many backup plans for teams courting top tier free agents but Memphis struck before the rest had time to act resigning their small forward to a five year $82 million dollar deal.
Rudy was expected to meet with the Minnesota Timberwolves and New Jersey Nets but just hours before he was scheduled for his first official trip the Grizzlies told his agent they would match any qualifying offer.
After the news reached Rudy all recruitment trips were canceled. This marks a definitive rebuilding process for Memphis but a smart move for a team that didn't have much to spend and invested in a player that can make their team a playoff contender in a few years.
