(Boston, MA) -- The Boston Herald is reporting that the Celtics have agreed to a one year deal with center Jermaine O'Neal. From the report O'Neal has agreed to take the mid level exception of $5.7 million to sign with Boston.
O'Neal spent last season with the Miami Heat and was pursued by the Timberwolves as well as the Celtics in free-agency. The 31-year old averaged 13.6 ppg and 6.9 reb.
The Celtics have been looking for low post relief due to the impending retirement of Rasheed Wallace and the fact that Kendrick Perkins will spend most of his off-season rehabbing a knee injury.
