Rod Brind'Amour Hangs Up His Skates

I will be the first to admit I am not a hockey fan but I was a HUGE fan of this guy.

(Raleigh, NC) -- Hockey is a tough game. Its the type of game that can take a toll on a young body and make careers last only a limited number of years, let along decades.

Former Flyer Rod Brind'Amour announced today that he will walk away from the game of hockey after 21 professional seasons. Rod was one of the toughest centers in the NHl during his career and holds the Flyers franchise record for most consecutive games player at 484.

Maybe I Should Watch More Hockey

So for the first time this year I sat down and watched a Flyers game. They were playing the New Jersey Devils and in the midst of the boredom that I felt sitting through the game this happened.



This is why I have a new appreciation for hockey. In this clip you can see Flyers Jeff Carter completely lay out Devils player Anssi Salmela in the second period of the Flyers 3-2 victory Monday night.

If hockey is like this every night I might become a fan.
