Herremans quick to apologize after Twitter mistake.

(Bethlehem, PA)- If seems as if a right of passage for professional athletes:

1. get a twitter account,
2. gather thousands of followers,
3. makes an idiotic comment,
4. make a public apology.

The most recent slip of the keys was by Eagles offensive lineman Todd Herremans. While resting his injured foot, and missing out of most of the Eagles training camp Herremans has apparently become a fan of HBO's hit series True Blood. Herremans seemed pleased with the series until this gaff came across his twitter account.

Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp Drama: Prodigal Son, Unwanted Rebel

(Bethlehem, PA)—It was an eerie scene at the opening of Eagles' training camp. The welcome signs of the upcoming season were all around, yet one thing seemed out of place.

For the first time in 11 years the familiar face of Donovan McNabb was missing from the Lehigh University practice field, and the dichotomy of the Eagles' quarterback situation took center stage.

It was only fitting of the road ahead that embattled backup quarterback Michael Vick entered the field for opening warm-ups alone.

Walking with his head down and his fist in the air, he was riddled with comments and boos from the Eagles' faithful. The ovation was a positive upgrade from the protesters of last season but the tense ovation is still prevalent every time Vick took a snap.

Bird Caged: Vick ordered to stay in P.A.

(Philadelphia, PA) —Michael Vick has been ordered by a state probation court that he is forbidden to cross state lines while the investigation into his birthday party shooting is in progress.

This is nothing new for the Eagles quarterback, as he has been on restricted parole ever since he was released from prison in 2009 after serving time for dog fighting.

Vick has to have all of his travel plans approved by the court, and the travel restriction could affect him financially. He was scheduled to appear at a football camp in North Carolina on Monday for a group of almost 500 teenagers.

Marcus Vick Possible Shooter in Birthday Party Incident

(Newport News, VA)  Marcus Vick, the brother of Eagle quarterback Michael Vick and one time NFL player, has been named as the possible shooter in an incident at Michael's birthday party last week.

The story was reported by Johnny D. and Bartley Barefoot on 102.1 The Game in Virginia Beach and say that they have unnamed sources that name Marcus as the shooter.

Randall Cunningham Loses Son In Hot Tub Accident

(Las Vegas, NV) -- Former Eagles quarterback Randall Cunningham's two year-old son Christian passed away yesterday due to an apparent accidental drowning  in a hot tub at the family home.

Cunningham whom was a former star at UNLV before being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles 37th overall in 1985 is now a minister in Las Vegas and regularly uses the hot tub for baptisms.

Eagles Schedule Posted

So after much wait the 2010-11 NFL Schedule is out and for the Birds this year might be a tough one. Despite the return of Donovan McNabb to Philly on Oct. 3rd the Birds have some very tough home games on their plate this year.

Also the Birds only MNF appearance will be in Washington as they make their first visit to McNabb and the new look Redskins on Oct. 15th.

The Birds will open the season hosting Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers before almost locks as they travel to Detroit and Jacksonville.

The key game for the Eagles will be on Nov. 7th as they host Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. The good thing about this game is it comes right after the Birds week 8 bye and historically Andy Reed is undefeated (9-0) after the bye week.

With the realignment of divisional games to later in the season the schedule bodes well for new QB Kevin Kolb who will have time to get adjusted before facing the grueling NFC East. But before they get to the brunt of their divisional schedule they will have to host the upstart Atlanta Falcons and visit Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears before having back-to-back NFC East road games.

Right now most experts including Adam Schefter of ESPN have the Eagles going somewhere between 9-7 and 8-8.

Jeff Garcia Returning To The Birds???

With the departure of Donovan McNabb to Washington and the style of play that Michael Vick lends himself too their is not a true veteran backup quarterback to act as a mentor for the Birds new signal caller Kevin Kolb.

The team has not made a move yet but former Birds QB Jeff Garcia says that he would jump at the opportunity to come back to the city of brotherly love.

"I would welcome the opportunity to return to Philly and be a part of the Eagles' organization and to be in front of those great fans again" stated Garcia via email to the Associated Press.

Garcia also stated that he likes the potential in Kolb and that he thinks he could be a contributor for years to come. Garcia also thinks he could help Kolb mature into a leadership role. "I know that I would be a great addition/mentor for Kevin as well as many of the other young guys on the team. Time will tell."

No words from Eagles front office about the move but I think I speak for many fans in saying this would be a smart move for a team looking for veteran leadership.

Garcia carried the Eagles to the 2006 NFC East title after McNabb went down with a knee injury before losing in the playoffs.

So after deliberation and posturing the Donovan McNabb trade has finally gone through. Many thought that the Oakland Raiders or Seattle Seahawks were the front runners but in the end it was the Washington Redskins that made the deal for number five.

The deal stands that the Eagles will get Washington's 2nd round pick (37 overall) and a conditional third or fourth round pick in 2011 depending on McNabb's production.

The trade was first reported via Twitter by ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Schefter has had his ear to the pulse of this story for weeks and announced yesterday that the Redskins were an 11th hour suitor in the McNabb lottery.

Many thought that a trade inter-division was impossible but it is being reported that the deal came to life because the St. Louis Rams are close to deciding on Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford as the first overall selection in the draft leaving the Redskins without their ideal first round pick.

Only time will tell if this trade bites the Eagles but knowing the karma in Philadelphia its looking like the NFC East is going to be a bit tougher this season.

*Sidenote: Tomorrow is officially wear your McNabb jersey to the ballpark as the Phillies are in Washington to open up the season against the Nationals.

No tape in the Champagne Room...

The on going investigation evolving around Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger hit a bump today as several reports of the March 5th incident have come to light. ESPN.com is reporting that the entrance to the VIP room where the two time Superbowl winner allegedly sexual assaulted a 20 year old was guarded by a bodyguard at the time of the alleged incident.

It also stated in the report that the bathroom that was located in a back room of the VIP section of the nightclub was also guarded by a friend of Roethlisberger's at the time of the incident. 

When interviewed by ESPN the bouncer on duty at the Capitol City Nightclub stated that is was common for a guard to protect the bathrooms and that he didn't see anything "out of the ordinary" about the night.

Later in the article the bouncer, Rocky Duncan, had this to say about the time of the alleged incident...

Roethlisberger was standing and talking with what appeared to be a woman sitting on a stool a few feet from the bathroom door, which was separated from the stage room by a 4-foot divider. Roethlisberger's frame blocked Duncan from seeing the woman. But Duncan added he had never seen the accuser and did not know what she looked like. Duncan said a member of Roethlisberger's entourage, whom he called "the ringleader," was sitting on a stool about a foot away from the door that led to the area where Roethlisberger and the woman had been talking.

Another twist in the case came today when it was announced the security camera footage of the night was some how erased before police had the chance to acquire it for evidence. Owners of the nightclub state that they were attempting to make a copy for police when they encountered a malfunction and somehow the records were erased.

There has been little support or comment made from team officials or the Rooney family about the issue. In an ESPN interview head coach Mike Tomlin stated that he was not frustrated about the fact that Ben has been absent from off season workouts and he expects Ben to be present when mandatory OTA start in a few weeks.

Right now both sides are gathering evidence for the preliminary hearing but they expect the case to possibly go to trial sometime this summer. This is not the second time Roethlisberger has been accused of sexual assault. In 2009 a hotel clerk at the Lake Tahoe Harrahs Hotel accused Ben of rape and is attempting to sue for over $450,000 in damages from the QB. The case is still pending.

(on a side note: this guy is disgusting, yes I know the girl was only 20 and the case will most likely be thrown out because she was a drunk minor in a club but what the hell is this guy doing in a nightclub in a college town, I hope he gets a rape charge this is the second time he has been accused and he needs to be put in his place).

Now for those of you who know me you are aware that I am not the biggest football fan. In saying this I still think it is necessary to try and address some of the rumors and moves (or potential moves) made in Philadelphia football as well as some things done in the NFL today that would have a lasting affect on the Eagles.

McNabb Trade Rumors: 

Just as I had stated the other day the onslaught of trade rumors involving Donovan McNabb does not seem like it will end anytime soon. Today Sal Pal announced on 97.5 the fanatic that more teams are talking to the Eagles about the services of #5. Like I had stated as these rumors began the Seahawks, Rams, Raiders and Bills are all looking into McNabb and each does make a lot of logical sense for a team like the Eagles. These stories have been confirmed by Chris Robinson of Yahoo Sports who is one of the top insiders for both the Seahawks and the Raiders.

The thing that does help many of these rumors is the fact that the Eagles are finally admitting that they are shopping McNabb, or as Reid calls it "looking into our options". Basically the team is finding the best deal and hopes to make it happen before the draft. Also it has been reported the Eagles have lowered their asking price for McNabb to a second round or a compilation of later round draft picks.

If anything is to happen I expect it to happen soon.

NFL Makes Rule Changes:

Today at the off season coaches meeting the NFL has changed their overtime rules for playoff games. This will not affect regular season games but the rule change has to do with overtime periods and scoring. After the coin toss it has been common place for a team to get into field goal range and win a game with said field goal (Patriots Super Bowl Wins). With the new rule change the only way a game can end on the first possessions of the coin flip is if the team scores a touchdown on the series. If they go for the traditional field goal and make it the other team has one chance to do the same without losing the game.

This is something that the NFL has needed for a while and should make playoff games more interesting and cause teams to go for more chances in the extra period.

So there it is guys that is the only NFL news that has sunk in today. Ill add more as the day goes along but that is pretty much all I got.

McNabb headed to Seattle?

Now I know as fans that we hear trade rumors right and left this time of year and most of the time we let them go without any thought but this one I feel could happen and makes sense for all parties involved.

Three Team Trade: Eagles, Saints & Seahawks

Saints trade: to Seattle Reggie Bush # 32 Pick (1st round)

Seahawks trade: to Saints 6th Pick (1st round)

Eagles trade: McNabb to Seattle and get 32nd pick overall from Seattle (formally Saints)

This is a deal that makes sense and could get the Birds the first round pick they are looking for... Only time will tell but I think this one has some weight to it.
